Chester County photographer specializing in portrait, event, and dance photography
The most important moments in life are usually captured in photos; a wedding day, the birth of a child or a special birthday. But there are so many other moments that are worth photographing. Moments that will become memories and will be cherished for years to come. Those are the moments that I want to capture for you and your family. Those are the photos you will look at and talk about years from now.
Hi, my name is Sandrien and I'm a professional photographer. I began my photography journey when I was 7 or 8 years old. What started out as a hobby of mine quickly became a passion I could not extinguish. I got my degree in photography but had to put my passion on the back burner while I was working as a nurse.
I’ve always loved connecting with people, listening to their stories, and making them feel comfortable. Taking care of others is something I care deeply about. I was lucky enough to be able to do all of those things as both a nurse and a photographer!
When my family and I moved from the Netherlands to the US in 2014, I shifted my focus from nursing back to my true passion: photography. I wanted to capture every moment of my family’s journey in our new home, and I haven’t looked back.
When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me spending time with my family (or binge watching medical dramas on TV).
My husband and I are raising two smart, ambitious young women. I grew up in a large and diverse family. My dad is from Curacao and my mom’s family has 35 members! They were some of the first people I photographed. I got plenty of experience photographing large groups at family events! I’m a sucker for movies based on true stories.
I love to travel. After moving to another country I realized how much I’m inspired by new places. That’s why I love traveling for work. I’m always happy to capture beautiful photos of you and your family from anywhere in the world!
One of my favorite things to photograph are dancers and dance events. Both of my daughters dance, and I’ve gotten many opportunities to photograph within their local dance community. I also love to volunteer for local charities, including Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, which you can learn more about here.
I love the experience of taking photos because it provides my clients with a priceless keepsake. In 30 years, the photos you take today will be so important. You can show them to your children and your grandchildren, you can display them in your home.
As a photographer, my goal is not only to capture genuine moments, but to present them in a beautiful format that you can keep forever.
We spend most of our time looking at our phones. Step out from behind the screen and let me do the work!
I specialize in portrait and special life event photography. Dance portraits, family portraits, senior photos, wedding photography, and corporate events are just a few examples of the sessions I love to photograph.
There’s one important thing you need to know about me – I hate awkwardly-posed photos. You know what I’m talking about. Those photos with a group of people posed shoulder-to-shoulder, pretending to touch each other with “please get me out of this situation asap” fake smiles.
Forced posing makes for awkward photos and they are not worth your investment. You’re hiring a photographer to capture the most important memories of your life. You want to remember the genuine moments, not the 30 seconds where everyone awkwardly hunched over each other to get in the shot (and somebody probably has their eyes closed).
That is why I always capture photos in a lifestyle/documentary style called photojournalism. I strongly believe that a photojournalistic approach is a wonderful way to find those genuine moments at an event.
We’ll still pose for images, but I like to focus on the real parts of you and your family – the real laughs, smiles, and tears. Have you ever seen a photo so full of raw emotion it nearly moved you to tears? I can bring that feeling to your photoshoot again and again by focusing on real emotions. We won’t waste time trying to make the moment perfect. The best moments, the ones you’re going to cherish forever, are the ones that are just the right amount of imperfect.
I love photography because it gives me the opportunity to connect with people I might never have met otherwise. Today, I meet hundreds of new people every year, each with their own story to tell.
