There are so many benefits of professional photos for kids and teens. Many of the young people I work with are aspiring creatives who need headshots or audition photos. Whether you are a dancer, singer, actor, musician, or artist, having professional photos you can use for both professional and personal purposes is invaluable. 


I photograph kids and teens for modeling agencies, dance or theater auditions, school applications, sport or dance. teams and much more. I am here to assist and advise on what the best session type and style is for your needs.

What Agencies Look For in Kids & Teen Headshots


Natural look
  • No heavy makeup (usually none at all for kids)
  • Clear skin, natural brows, natural lips
Simple clothing
  • Solid colors ( gray, navy, soft pastels)
  • Fitted but comfortable tops
  • No logos, characters, or busy patterns
Clean hair
  • Hair styled naturally, off the face
  • No heavy gel, hairspray, or elaborate styles
  • For longer hair: one photo down, one pulled back
Good lighting
  • Bright, even light (natural window light works great)
  • No harsh shadows or dark images
Plain background
  • White, light gray, or neutral wall
  • No clutter or distracting backgrounds
Clear facial expression
  • Relaxed face
  • Soft smile or neutral expression
  • Eyes visible and engaged with the camera
Age-appropriate look
  • Clothing and styling that reflects the child’s real age
  • Avoid trying to make kids look older
Minimal retouching
  • No filters or heavy editing
  • Agencies want to see what your child truly looks like
Simple framing
  • Head and shoulders
  • One close-up and one slightly wider shot often preferred
